Utah elopement locations you’ve never heard of (that aren’t Arches)

103A0722

Utah is famous for elopements — but when couples start searching for Utah elopement locations, they usually see the exact same places over and over again.

Arches. Zion. Canyonlands. Dead Horse Point. Bonneville Salt Flats.

And while those places are incredible, they’re also crowded, permit-heavy, restricted, and honestly? Not always the most peaceful way to start a marriage.

What most people don’t realize is that Utah is absolutely covered in wild, open, jaw-dropping land where you can have an elopement that feels private, free, and deeply personal — without hiking past 40 tourists or standing in line for a photo.

These are the places I bring couples when they tell me:

“We want Utah, but we don’t want the Utah everyone else does.”

These are some of my favorite Utah elopement locations for couples who want something epic, quiet, and completely different from the national parks.

Tunnel Springs Park (North Salt Lake)

If you want golden rolling hills, open skies, and views of the Great Salt Lake without stepping foot on Antelope Island — this is it.

Tunnel Springs feels like you drove hours into the middle of nowhere… even though you’re 15 minutes from Salt Lake City.

It’s quiet, soft, and wildly underrated.

This is one of the most underrated Utah elopement locations, especially for couples who want privacy without sacrificing views.

Best for couples who want:

  • Golden hills and dreamy sunsets
  • Easy access (no long hikes required)
  • A peaceful, “middle of nowhere” feeling close to the city

Spiral Jetty (Rozel Point)

This one feels other-worldly.

Red water. Salt crystals. Black rocks. Absolute silence.

Spiral Jetty is an art installation out in the middle of nowhere on the Great Salt Lake, and it feels like eloping on another planet.

Best for couples who want:

  • Something wildly unique and artistic
  • A remote, surreal landscape
  • Zero crowds and big, open space

Big Cottonwood Canyon (pull-offs & hidden trails)

People think “mountain elopement” and immediately drive to national parks.

Meanwhile, Big Cottonwood Canyon is sitting right outside Salt Lake with alpine lakes, aspen groves, wildflowers, granite peaks, and quiet trails everywhere.

And the best part? You don’t have to hike miles to get to it.

Best for couples who want:

  • Mountain scenery without national park restrictions
  • Forest, lakes, and seasonal color
  • Easy-to-reach epic views

The Silver Island Mountains (near Wendover)

Everyone flocks to the Salt Flats. Hardly anyone drives 30 minutes past them.

The Silver Island Mountains overlook the Bonneville Salt Flats from above, and the views are unreal — rugged desert, massive skies, and the flats stretching out below you.

It’s dramatic, quiet, and feels completely untouched.

Best for couples who want:

  • Desert drama without the Salt Flats crowds
  • Epic views from above
  • A rugged, adventurous feel

The San Rafael Swell (Temple Mountain area)

If you love Moab’s vibe but hate how busy it is… this is your place.

The San Rafael Swell has striped sandstone, wild rock formations, slot canyons, and desert textures that look straight out of a national park — but with almost no people.

It’s raw, quiet, and wildly underrated.

Best for couples who want:

  • Moab-style landscapes without Moab crowds
  • Unique rock formations and desert colors
  • A truly remote feel

Why these Utah elopement locations feel so different

These locations have something in common:

They let your elopement feel like an experience — not a photoshoot in a tourist destination.

You’re not waiting for people to clear out of the background.

You don’t want to be rushed by park rules.

You’re not standing where thousands of couples stood last weekend.

It’s somewhere that feels like it was discovered just for you.

And that changes the entire energy of the day.

How I help couples find unique Utah elopement locations

This is actually a huge part of what I help my couples with.

Based on what you’re drawn to — desert, mountains, salt, hills, forest, seasons, colors, privacy — I recommend Utah elopement locations you probably would have never found on your own, and I build your elopement plan around them.

Because Utah is so much bigger than the famous spots.

And some of the most epic places here?

Aren’t on anyone’s Pinterest board yet.
